Before proceeding with livelink installation, make sure that Unreal Engine is closed on your machine.
If you are setting up Bridge for the first time, you will be asked to select your DCC/ENGINE in the Settings pop-up as follows:
- Just choose Unreal Engine from the DCC/ENGINE drop-down and click Save Changes.
*Note: the Local Library Path is the location where Bridge will create your assets library. When you click Save Changes above, the plugin will be downloaded in a folder called support, inside the assets library. This is NOT the path where your plugin will be installed.
- Next, download the asset you want to export to UE4 and then go to its Export Settings tab. You will see the following settings:
- In Engine Version, select the version of Unreal Engine you want to install the livelink on. If you're using an official Unreal Engine version just select that (4.18, 4.19, 4.20, etc...). If on the other hand you're trying to install the livelink on a custom Unreal Engine build, then pick up the "Custom Build" option in the drop-down.
- Now set the Installation Folder by clicking Select Folder, to where your engine's plugins are installed, like this for instance: C:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_4.22\Engine\Plugins. The path should basically be where your engine's plugins are installed.
- The Project Location is optional and you can use it to specify the location where you want the Megascans content to be imported. This should be inside a project's Content folder.
Your Export Settings should now look something like this:
As soon as the Installation Folder is selected, Bridge begins the installation process and you'll see the Installing... message.
It is followed by a Installed Successfully message as shown below:
You can verify that the plugin was installed or not by going to the location specified in the Installation Folder and checking if the UnrealEnginePython folder exists there.
Startup Unreal Engine and you should see a green M button inside, clicking which shall open the livelink UI.
You should now be able to send assets from Bridge to Unreal Engine.
