There are a couple of ways to download and add assets to your UE5 project.
You can either drag and drop them straight from the Bridge window into your scene or click download and add to project.
Drag & Drop
You can drag and drop a single asset or multiple assets together into your scene.
To add an asset to your scene, click on the asset in the grid and drag and drop it into the viewport.
If the asset isn’t already downloaded, this will automatically initiate download based on the selected download resolution in the asset’s information panel.
At the same time, a preview of the asset will appear in your scene. This preview is a placeholder till the actual asset finishes downloading. You can place, scale, rotate, and instance the preview while the high-res version gets downloaded in the background.
If you’re downloading something from Bridge inside UE5 for the first time, you will also see the following new folders in your Content browser.
- Megascans: this is where the assets live inside your UE5 project once they have been downloaded.
- MSPresets: this contains all the template master materials that are used to render the downloaded assets in your scene.
Once the actual asset has been downloaded, it will replace the preview in the scene.
All Surfaces, Imperfections and Decals appear on a spherical mesh when dragged and dropped into the viewport.
Download and Add to Scene
You can also download and add assets to your scene in two separate steps.
Download to Project
You can hover over the asset in the grid and click the green Quick download icon.
Alternatively, click on the asset to open the asset information panel and click on the Download button at the bottom of the panel. You can choose which resolution you want to download the asset on.
Once downloaded, all the assets are accessible under the Local tab.
To navigate to the asset’s location on disk, simply right click on the downloaded asset and select Go to Files.
Inside the Editor, the downloaded assets appear in the Content > Megascans folder in the Content Browser.
Add to Scene
You can hover over the downloaded asset in the grid and click the blue Quick export icon.
Alternatively, click on the asset to open the asset information panel and click on the Add button at the bottom of the panel. You can choose which resolution you want to export the asset on.
Make sure you have set up your Export Settings before adding assets to your scene.
