[Style Swap] Forbidden Wall
The Artstation challenge is done!
I saw this one announced, but hadn't had time to look. I love the concept, so I'll jump in. Hope I'm not too late.
So, the photo above has a special place in my heart.
For starters, it's just a really great bit of wall. I can hear my old texturing teacher in my head "Chris, it needs more grunge." I think this wall fulfils his appetite for grunge. This wall is eyecandy to any Environment Artist.
I was nearly arrested for taking this photo.
Walking down the streets of a city that shall remain nameless, I saw this wall, and immediately pulled out my camera. I snap a few photos, before catching movement from the corner of my eye. A policeman is approaching fast, making furious hand gestures at me.
Oh dear, I realise. This wall appears to be a government or military wall I'm photographing. That's a no-no in this country.
The policeman was pleasant enough in the end, but it was communicated to me that under no circumstances should I take any more such photos.
Now, years later, I am finally ready to use this hard won photo. A texture with a bit of danger to it.

Progress so far. I've gone through a few iterations. Still getting used to Mixer, so I'm figuring out optimal techniques and workflows. They're showing improvement, but still have some way to go.
The last two especially have parts of them that I like. I'd like to combine the best parts of both. We'll see how version 5 turns out.
