Yes, the release is broken. They need to fix it. I can only load the sample mixes, but I cant create a new one.

How do you install the older version?

  • Hi nitron, mvonw and magofilms

Thanks for the reports. Please note that we are investigating the issue and its being worked on. But to dig a little deeper, I'll need your log files so the devs can have a look at them as well.

nitron Kindly navigate to one of the following paths depending upon your OS and share the log file with me:
    Windows
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Quixel\Quixel Mixer\Player.log
    Mac OSX
    /Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

mvonw, magofilms Kindly create a separate forum post or a support ticket and share the details of the issue you are facing along with the log file.

    Thanks!

Hi! I was forced to reinstall Win10, and I hadn't opened Mixer since May, 2021. Now, I can't open my custom projects anymore.

Mixer crashes when it gets close to finishing render targets. I get to see my models building up, but then it all crashes before I can interact.

I tried lowering Mixer's performance parameters, especially Anti-Aliasing. Nothing did the trick.

By the way, there is no Player.log file for me.

I thought Mixer issues may be due to an older GPU, but I finally got an RTX 3090 and I can tell you I cannot use Mixer.  It can't handle basic assets.  I believe it is entirely related to Smart Materials (bu I could be wrong).  I think they may not have been installed/dowloaded completely so whenever I attempt to apply one that is not fully downloaded it just hangs forever.  I tried downloading all acquired assets and that just crashes Mixer 3 times now.

I thought this was a really promising software package and alternative to Substance, but I can not use it at all.

Hi Rikyu99 - I've created a ticket so we can get more information from you on this subject. Please provide any images, Mixer logs, or other supporting documentation for my team to assist you here.

I think i found a solution, if my problem is the same. My crash happens when enetring an old mix and when mixer renders targets. I think mixer tries to load all the materials at once and dies. So i found that doing alt and click in the hide button of lowest surface or smart material in the layers while its rendering targets makes mixer only load one surface at first. Then i slowly  unhide the other surfaces. Maybe this works for me because i have low spec and in other computer it would work corretly. It might not be the same problem but im sure it will help somebody. Bye

I figured it out! It's called TDR Crash.

I remembered I had tweaked this in my previous machine when I started to learn Substance Painter. When Mixer came along, it simply worked. My video card is the same, though, it's an old GTX660. Mixer is working again!!!

Quixel should have a document like the one below on its front page:

    https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/spdoc/gpu-drivers-crash-with-long-computations-tdr-crash-128745489.html

    Cheers!

@LEO_SARAMAGO  THANKS. I was having the Quixel crash issue. I followed the instructions on the link you provided and it seems to have fixed the problem with the model I was working on. Fingers crossed. Much appreciated.
