    Hi Nino Mancuso

    Thanks for the report!

To troubleshoot the issue, I'll need the following details:

    1. Kindly create a new mix without using the Material ID map and let me know if you can see the layers.
    2. Add the material ID map and if it causes the issue, close Mixer and share your log file with me. You can find it at:
      C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Quixel\Quixel Mixer\Player.log
    3. A video demonstrating step no. 2 would be helpful. You can upload it at streamable.com and share the link with me.
    4. Kindly attach the Material ID map along with the mesh in your reply.

Hi Urooj! I never got the mat ID map uploaded, there was nowhere to upload it to! I tried adding other materials and selecting them, none of them had viewable Albedo, Metalness, roughness etc texture layer maps on the right column to adjust or view or select!

And look at this, I've restarted Mixer for the 20th time it seems like, was going to take  a video of what I mean, and now look...

suddenly for no reason, all the textures maps are on the right side column again. I dont get it.

I'm having a similar problem. Any model imported from Blender has no BaseLayer. Instead, it has a layer named "LAYER SET 1" which has no maps listed (albedo, metalness, etc.) just Target Texture Sets... which are just the Material IDs I set up in Blender.

Unlike the IP, no amount of waiting or fiddling around has caused this mysterious BaseLayer to suddenly appear. :) I realize this is (in a way) hijacking this thread, but since the problem is so much the same and no solution has yet been supplied... well, all's fair, right?

Are you using the latest version? My error was occurring in the previous version

I'm using 2021.1.1 Beta which (I think) is the latest.

  • IIRC, we removed "BaseLayer" in the latest release since all the relevant details are contained in the Setup tab now. It was a placeholder layer previously.

    Well, that explains that.

So, what's the least confusing way to learn Mixer? No one seems to have put out a video that's up to date and lots of the stuff I've read or watched leaves out so much. I'm piecing things together slowly, but it's a chore.
