A lot of troublesome issues come up during the installation of Quixel Mixer, which aren't brought up in the installation guide provided by Quixel.
Quixel Mixer 2021.1.1
"The path you enter is invalid."
This happens when the .exe is located on the same drive you're trying to install the software on. For example, if the .exe is on C: and the installation path is also somewhere on C:, this error pops up. To go around it, I simply moved the .exe to D:.
Note: I tried on both a HDD as well as a SSD and the issue came up in both drives.
Downloading required files
"Unable to download component Sample Mixes"
During the installation of the library contents, none of them work. With the three options given "Abort", "Retry" and "Ignore", the option of ignoring the problem "solves" it quickly.
Now to the main issue,
Installing the software on another drive other than the C:. The
installation worked fine using the standard settings. When I changed the paths to another drive however, each time, during the installation process the error "Unable to download component Quixel Mixer 2021.1.1" comes up. If you "ignore" it, as the program automatically launches, the following error comes up;
"There has been an error.
Unknown error while running F:\/Quixel Mixer.exe &
The application will exit now."
Trying to boot the shortcut on the Desktop, asks to locate the .exe which doesn't exist.
Here's what worked for me:
On the error message "Unable to download component Quixel Mixer 2021.1.1", press "retry" as many times as it takes. Don't "abort" or "ignore" the installation. Eventually it works.
Dear hard-working mods of this Forum, please don't remove this post. I can explain why. On another post from eight months ago called "mixer not install on my sistem", the same issue I faced came up and support couldn't help. This post might help someone or at least, they've got a spreadsheet on what already has been tried. I've spent my entire morning to get it to work.
Thank you very much for your help.
