  • Hello, skartik

Thanks for reaching out. The issue here stems from Virtual Textures (VT) being enabled on an existing project which is then updated to the latest version of UE5's internal Bridge (2022.0.6). Doing so will result in one of the two following issues.

    1. Surface assets are exported without Material Instances.
    2. UE5 editor crashes when importing a 3D Asset.
    • To resolve this issue, create a blank UE5 project with the latest Bridge update (2022.0.6)
    • Enable VT within your project, then restart the editor.
    • Import a surface and a 3D asset into the scene.

Following these steps will result in rebuilding the MSPresets folder within your newly created project, which we can use to resolve the issue you're experiencing in your pre-existing projects.

To replace your pre-existing MSPresets folder, we'll first need to copy the one created by our new project. To do so...

    1. Close all instances of Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games Launcher, and Bridge.
    2. Navigate to your UE5 project directory for the newly created project and go into its Content folder.
Your project directory is the location where your project is created and saved.

    3. Copy the folder MSPresets
    4. Go to the Content folder of your pre-existing project with which you're experiencing the crash issue.
    5. Paste the newly downloaded "MSPresets" folder in [Your UE5 Project Directory] > Content, replacing the pre-existing folder.

You should now be able to export assets successfully with Virtual Texturing enabled.
