UE5 Bridge Background service error & cannot change preference path

I am running UE5 on a Mac with M1 Max. I can open the Bridge within Unreal, but I get the 'Failed to restart background service" error. I've done some digging and tried some of the solutions found online; but when I try to change the Library path from preferences I cannot save the changes, and the only way I can close that window is by clicking the X in the right corner (which obviously doesn't save the new path). Now, I tried opening UE5 with root privileges through a terminal, which doesn't fix anything but I do see an error repeated in the terminal which reads:

UnrealEditor[56736:10980846] [UE] [2022.07.25-07.56.23:977][526]LogHAL: Warning: Failed to launch Tool. (/Users/Shared/Epic Games/UE_5.0/Engine/Plugins/Bridge/ThirdParty/Mac/node-bifrost.app)

I went into that directory, and no such file exists. If it's supposed to, I cannot find it anywhere reasonable. Not sure if these issues are entirely related, but I could definitely use some help.

having the same issue, using a mac studio M1, unable to change library path, background services failed to start and when i try to log in using my epic log in everything crashes.

Hi, I'm having the same problem, seem like node-bitfrost is not working. Im trying to open Megasacans plugin I'm using a Mac studio Ventura 13.0 and UE version 5.0.3.also before this I had problem whit one of the scanned assets from Tundra collection

Andy2, I’m pretty sure it’s Ventura, I was running a beta version when I had this problem. I went back to Monterey and every worked. Still don’t have the option of ProRes but at least the bridge works perfectly
